Yesterday, Wednesday, October 28th, the TIME reported an article addressing what happens to a facebook when you die. “Facebook has a “memorializing” profiles of users who have died, taking them out of the public search results, sealing them from any future log-in attempts and leaving the wall open for family and friends to pay their respects.” Although Facebook has always had this feature for quite some time they have never advertised this feature.
When facebook released a new version of the homepage last week one feature was an automatic generator for people to reconnect with. There was backlash from the users because some of the suggestions were of people who had already died.
Facebook taking their customer’s situation in consideration decided to go public with the feature and address it. This decision was an example of Operational CRM. The responses from the customers provides a list generator for customer information and facebook was able to compile the information and utilize in a marketing strategy for this “memorializing” feature they provide. This feature can do big things for face book because it sets them apart from other social networking sites and shows that they are really focused on covering all aspects for their customers.
Because of facebooks online socialing network they really have an advantage to utilize list generators and implement marketing campaigns. They can easily create questionaires and have their customers respond on their website. Because it is already online based compiling a list generator would be simple and easy to implement quickly.
